Hello and warm greetings—it’s Kanna here!At long last, summer break has arrived… and I couldn’t be more excited! ☀️💛

One little-known fact about Japanese universities: we get wonderfully long holidays. Summer break runs from August through around October, and spring break lasts from February to early April. I always try to make the most of this time—and this year is no exception. I’m diving headfirst into a new experience!

This summer, I’ll be interning at a lovely international-style kindergarten in Taiwan. ✨
Thanks to a string of kind connections, I’ve been given the opportunity to work in a beautifully diverse environment, spending my days with little ones and learning alongside them. On weekends, I’ll also have the chance to explore Taiwan, and even join the principal for golf and voice lessons—how unique is that? I can’t wait to discover how early childhood education differs between Japan and Taiwan!

And there’s more to look forward to…
I’ll be reuniting with a dear Taiwanese friend I met during my solo travels in Europe. We had planned a farewell dinner at the airport in Spain, but due to a baggage mishap, I missed it and didn’t get to say goodbye—or even “I’m sorry.” It was such a heartbreaking moment. I truly thought I might never see them again, so being able to reconnect now feels incredibly special. 💫

Each new experience—every connection, every challenge—is helping me understand the world just a little more.
And maybe, just maybe, these moments will lead me toward a future where I can contribute to education, cultural exchange, or something even bigger. 🌷 (Fun fact: investing in people like this actually strengthens something called “human capital,” which can help boost national productivity—and yes, even GDP!)

I always seem to return home with stories to tell, and I can’t wait to share the next chapter with you soon. 🌍✨
Wishing you a safe, happy, and meaningful summer ahead.

With love,
Kanna
